Production Log: Main Products All Finished

I have finally finished all my main products; music video, digipak and magazine advert. I am in the middle of finishing of my first evaluation question. I have kept a penultimate deadline where everything has to be finished at its very best. The only thing I will keep on a hold is my evaluations. I will keep them as essays rather than putting them into a multimedia format as if there is anything wrong with them gramatically or I need to include something else then it will be hard for me to edit. Once I recieve feedback on them I will start putting them into suitable formats. I still need to complete a few tasks such as influences of pop music style as I had seem to miss that one. I also need to talk about the narrative structure in my music video. I have to improve quite a few of my posts by expanding further. These posts are history of music videos, location ideas, similar music videos, research into pop genre, audiences of pop music, research into equipment, initial planning ideas, talking about visual progression and image system, talking more about my pitch and proposal in detail and getting more feedback on my planning tasks to see what audiences think of my ideas.

Brand Guidelines

Above is document showing guidelines when promoting our brand. It shows how our logo should be presented; font, colours and layout. This is useful for those who are involved in the promotion of Noreen Ahmed.

Production Log: Completing Remaining Planning Tasks

Over the past two weeks I have managed to get my ancillary products improved to its best. I have taken in all feedback and improved it along with it. Over the weekend I plan to finish improving my music video. I also need to do a few planning tasks which I haven't done such as the brand guidelines. I feel this is the best time to do that task as I have finished my ancillary tasks so creating guidelines for my logo and brand name will be fixed and easier to present. I have finally finished my music video. I listened to some of the feedback received and changed some of the effects that did not fit in. I also colour corrected the clips where I was filming outside as the clips were far too bright so I balanced it out and made the grass a really nice green. I also re-imported the soundtrack of the song as that was one of the main issues with my second draft of my music video. I did this by importing the whole Adobe After Effects file into Adobe Premier Pro timeline. I then unlinked the audio and video and deleted the audio. I then imported the original soundtrack and dragged it on to timeline. It took nearly 4 hours to render and export due to high use of effects so I had to make sure everything was near to perfect. I still have to work on my evaluations are they do not meet the minimum word count which means I have no included everything. I have done question 2, 3 and 4 however they all still need improving. I am still working on question 1 as that is the longest and hardest question as I have to include theorists and their theories.

Production Log: Changes Shown

Over the weekend I created a post of my first draft and second draft of my music video beside each other. This is to show the alterations I have made so far. This has helped me to see all the changes I have made and how I have taken the feedback received. I will also create another one of these with my second draft and final music video. I have written underneath what changes I have made and for what reasons. During the next two weeks I will try and get my improvements for my ancillary tasks done. And hopefully my music video as well. Once I get the improvements done for that I can continue improving my research tasks and evaluations. In order to make my evaluations easier to do, I made notes on each question and what I could potentionally include in them. I will upload them as a seperate blog post. This is has really opened my eyes to how much I need to include and what key terms to use. Making these notes has made me realise that question 1 is the longest and most detailed evaluation question. It can be seen as one of the easiest as it involves you talking about your three products and comparing them to existing products. But I need to include theorists and theories.

Alterations Made On The Way - First and Second Draft

Side By Side Evaluation - First and Second Draft from Ruqaiyah K on Vimeo.

As you can see, there is a lot of changes and improvements between my first and second draft of my music video. Firstly, I absolutely resented the plain one colour background. It looked too plain and boring. Additionally the effects I had used looked really tacky and cheap especially the 'lens flare' effect. Furthermore all the effects did not fit well together as some were abstract and others were not. Also I was new to Adobe After Effects so I was still exploring the effects that was available for me to use. All the professional looking effects I found at the end of editing the first draft of the music video. Therefore a second draft needed to be created. I re-did nearly all of the clips and changed the background. The only thing I didn't change was the 'na na na na' bits of the song. I didn't quite know what to put in those clips as it was repetitive. In my second draft the effects are much more professional looking and a bit more consistent. It is quite hard to edit it on Adobe After Effects and you easily get fed up with it as you cannot watch it properly. You have to render it first on Adobe Premier Pro which is a long process.

Production Log: Feedback and Evaluation in Progress

Over the Christmas holiday I got a lot of audience feedback which I uploaded on Blogger. I now need to start taking the feedback and improve the certain areas. I received further feedback today from a media professionalist. They picked out the tiny aspects of my ancillary tasks that could be improved. This is the feedback I received for my ancillary tasks:

I also received feedback for my blog and music video.
I also need to improve some of my research tasks as they can be more detailed and interesting looking. Furthermore, I need to think about how I will present my four evaluation questions, through what kind of media. At the moment I have decided that I will use Adobe InDesign, Adobe Premier Pro and Prezi. I still haven't thought of a forth one. I could do Powerpoint, however I have used it quite often for my research tasks. If I really have no choice at the end, I will use powerpoint but I will animate it and then record it using CamStudio. This will mean I will be using two media forms in one. This will allow me to add a soundtrack as well, possibly a voice over.

Focus Group Feedback

Survey Results

Above is a presentation with all the survey results. I have also written what each question means and how it has/will help me.
